We are jumping on the Heated Rivalry bandwagon this week. This series is an exemplar of the speed with which changes in the broadcasting, telecoms, and digital media spheres have become successful. It also reflects some of the ways in which algorithms, fan fiction, and online audiences are influencing the Canadian and global culture sector and creative industries. Below is a timeline that shows the parallels between the development of a show that is very explicitly Canadian, both in content and tone, and the legislative and funding shifts in Canada that made it possible to have an international impact.
